Instead of leaving a message on an answering machine through the medium of sound, shouldn't we be able to utilise the other senses to bring a more positive and fun experience to a normal socially interactive task?
A simple, multiple faced sphere shaped object, with a series of motors and accelerometers, can act both as the "interactive action" as well as the "interactive reaction" through a connection to a partnered device. By interacting with the device, one can select a certain face of the object which corresponds with a certain friend/partners device. The device will then react in a visual, physical and auditory medium to tell the corresponding friend/partner.
The idea behind it is to step away from the traditional method of social interaction of "leaving a message" without being specific as to what that message is meant to say. Make it a game out of it, make a fun experience out this traditionally normal socially interactive task.
The next step for this particular concept is to figure out what kind of medium this object or device should project a message through. Whether it be visual, physical, auditory or a combination of any of these. And then what kind of action reply is the user/receiver of the message supposed to do?

"How can we interact with each other, over potentially great distances, without the use of a screen or the traditional use of a telephone?"
Our task is to design a product which will enable us to achieve such an interaction. Using the human body's senses such as sight, sound, touch, smell, taste, feel.. etc. we need to design.. something that can tell a friend or loved one "hey", "I'm bored", "poke"..
Are we going to be focusing on assisted living? What products are already on the market that achieve this? What does the target market want in these products?
Let's begin..
